Our website takes you through each of the steps described below. Just start by going to the print you want to order and begin with Tab 1 to select paper type, then click the white continue button next to the displayed price to be taken to the next step in the ordering process.
Tab 1: Paper Type - We offer 3 different paper types, which you select on Tab 1 of the ordering process:
Archival Canvas - This is an exhibition quality satin canvas, an acid free, lignin free heavyweight cotton-poly blend canvas. This elegantly textured canvas features a semi-gloss satin surface with a bright white point, exceptionally high Dmax and wide color gamut. The canvas base is enhanced with elastic polymers providing high tensile strength and flexibility for gallery wrap stretching without cracking. Select this option if you would like to order a canvas print that is stretched around a wooden frame, called a "Gallery Wrap". Canvas prints are a great choice if you want an image that can displayed without glass or a frame. They are also good choices for very large prints since they do not require framing with glass and are not heavy. Canvas is our most popular print option with customers.
Glossy Photographic Paper - The Glossy Photo Paper has an incredible Dmax and rich color gamut. It is a smooth, high-gloss, photographic paper that features a unique light reflective surface that provides extreme sharpness and depth. This paper works perfectly with the acrylic face mount display style. If you select the Acrylic Face Mount Option we will use this paper for your order. See the explanation below in #3 for more details on acrylic face mounts.
Cotton Fine Art Paper - This is a Hot Press Cotton Fine Art Paper, an acid free, 100% cotton rag media with a bright smooth matte finish. This paper has an extremely-high color gamut and black density. This paper is perfect for traditionally framed and mounted prints.
Tab 2: Size - We offer a variety of sizes, which you can select on tab 2 of the ordering process. We can also do sizes not shown on the website, just call us at 888-482-4632 to get a quote on a custom size. Olof and Elizabeth Carmel do all their own printing and can do any size up to 120" x 56". Size is shown in Width x Height format. Print prices vary by size, you can evaluate price differences by selecting the different size options.
Tab 3: Style - Tab 3 of the ordering process shows the different finishing styles available for your print. If you select Canvas as the paper type in tab 1, the style will show as a mirrored edge on sides of the gallery wrap. We print all canvas orders with a 1.75" wide mirrored flap on each side so it can be stretched around a wooden frame for display. In the styes tab is also an option to order a print in color, black & white or sepia tone. Clicking on the black & white and sepia icons will give you a preview of how these color options will look. For Finishing options you can select if you just want the print rolled up and shipped to frame later, or if you want it stretched or framed. If you selected Canvas as the paper type in tab 1 you will see an option for a gallery wrapped canvas which is stretched around a wooden frame that is 1.5" wide. The 1.5" gallery wrap comes with a wire on the back and is ready to hang on your wall. You will also see a framing option to put the canvas in a floater frame or a frame with a a linen liner. If you selected photographic or cotton paper you will see an option for framing (see more info on Frame Options in under Tab 4 info below) and also for an acrylic face mount.
An Acrylic Face Mount is a glossy print laminated to a 1/4" thick sheet of acrylic. It comes ready to hang with a wooden cleat on the back. It is designed to float off the wall about 1" to give a clean and contemporary look. The edge of the image is flush with the edge of the acrylic, there is no white border around the image. Acrylic face mounted prints are not framed.
Tab 4: Frame - If you select Frame as a finishing style in Tab 3 a fourth tab will appear: Frame. Under this tab you will select the frame style you would like for your picture. Each frame option has a small question mark icon, if you hover the mouse over that you will see more detailed info on that frame. If you selected a canvas paper type you will see options for a floater frame or a frame with a linen liner. Floater frames are frames where a gallery wrapped canvas is suspended (or, "floats") inside of the frame, with a small border of open space around it on all sides. Our floater frames measure 3/8" across and are available in selectable colors. Another option for framing canvas or paper prints is use of a frame and a linen liner. A linen liner is a 2" wide cloth covered wood liner that goes between the print and the frame. It helps separate the print from the frame and gives the appearance of a cut matt. Linen liners are available in black or off white. A linen liner / frame combination is a good choice for a framing prints over 44" in size and for canvas prints which will not be framed behind glass.
For framed paper prints there will be a large number of framing options that appear in Tab 4. We offer a selection of well priced in stock frames that have been popular choices in our galleries, along with a selection of custom frames by Larson Juhl. You can preview how your print will look with any of these frames, just click on the frame sample you want to preview in tab 4. All frames come with an off white matt and glass, and for prints over 44" an off white linen liner will be used in place of a matt and plexiglass will be used instead of glass. You can also select the frame option with a black or white linen liner to have any size print framed with a a linen liner.
